I already wrote about leadership in chaos on March 23d, 2012, and announced it as a huge topic. Indeed, it is.
Leading in chaos is about collaborative thinking, handling and acting.
What does collaborative mean? The German wikipedia says:
collaboration is a conscious interacting when executing a job or action to achieve a collective goal. It is an active form of collaboration which demands great work-effort of the whole team.
First rule in leadership I have ever read is: one is born to be a leader. In return means: not everyone is a true leader. Okay, but I´d say: everyone can learn it. Plus: combined with certain experience, some are just late on that stage.
Why leadership?
Because as an adult we don´t need to be lead by our parents anymore and actually we´re supposed to lead others when the coin flips over.
Leader means originally in latin “dux” which is equally to prince. Unfortunately it´s connected to force and underlined due to many wars with negativity ´cuz each group needed a leader during war.
Back in our past at the beginning there were no assembly-lines nor factories. Life was more about conquering new land to expand. Today, we use products to expand.
Still: same strategy, same acting.
Leadership “lessons learned” back then offered the result that after some try & error there was a plan finally to copy and to adjust.
But when you´re in chaos, you won´t receive a plan. You cannot copy other people solutions ´cuz the dynamics will often mix the puzzle pieces and challenge you again and again.
Self leadership is about a very strong mentality.

Thanks for your post, Rita. I never knew the origin of the word, leader. You’re right that we all need to be able to be leaders at some point in our lives. This is an invaluable lesson.
Great post Rita!!! Keep it up!
Thanks sweety!
….or may I say: Thanks Mrs. SteelDoll!!!
Great job Rita,
I think this quote:
“But when you´re in chaos, you won´t receive a plan. You cannot copy other people solutions ´cuz the dynamics will often mix the puzzle pieces and challenge you again and again.”
Is so powerful, you are absolutely correct, you cannot copy other people solutions, I think you need to create your own in order to deal with your unique situation, this also applies to planning a person’s life. I think many people emulate other people’s lives in order to create their own and that’s wrong, since we are all unique. We need to be come Leaders!!!
Great post!
Thank you Tanya & Luis for your thoughts on my website!
Hi Rita, I love the way you break things down. Looking forward to the next post.
I became very profound in life and figured: it´s the only way out!
You made think.. Being leader is something each of us becomes no matter how minor the task.
Great post
Yes Syl, and we better know as much as possible about it. The better we lead ourselves and others the less energy we spend.
Great blog, Sylvia. I really enjoyed reading it. I so agree; one can learn to be a leader. While I have been told I am neither a leader nor a follower but rather an individual, I have slowly learned to move into the role of a leader. I totally agree with what you said about not receiving a plan when you are in chaos. Sometimes you just have to let go and trust the Universe.
Thanks Denni! I grew up among strong leaders on the hospital stage, but they had no plan for me and sent me in a maze of doubt. They were not happy about it either. I learned very early that I have to believe in myself – myself. I guess that´s were all adults end-up at some point in their lives one day as well.
Keep going, learning, reflecting and you´ll get their!
