Leadership in Chaos (14) – Your Position –

If you position yourself, you think about where you go and sit, maybe in a restaurant. You might choose the best view or an ideal table next to someone you want to get to know. Okay, this means you know already who is in the restaurant at that time.
In Germany, we go and sit where ever we want.

In the United States you´re being seated:

“A table for one person please, if possible”. My voice is not very strong and proud because I see all the taken tables by couples and families, lovers and old friend-meetings. All tables are fully taken and there is just me, standing and staring at the food I long to order, hoping to get a seat at a table of the Tavern on Rush. Many customers meant good food, which is a secure indicator.
The outdoor tables of the Gibsons Bar across, with the plaid table cloth, are all occupied. To me, their tables stand too close to the street. Steak and fish is not actually what I need after this long flight today. It is the small table for two at the corner where passing passengers and cars drive by, which becomes my dinner table. Neatly hidden behind a wooden screen I find a small place to rest and check the menu.

The German wikipedia says about positioning:
it is the capture of a concrete regional …… position input of an object in conjunction of orientation.
in advertising & marketing: the specific making and featuring of excellence and qualities….

The English wikipedi explains shortly:
creating an identity ….
….”Global Positioning System”….

Where we position ourselves or where we are being positioned by others will influence our thoughts, courage and decisions.
Where we position our products and companies or where we will have to build the new plant might be up to us or is linked to where others are located.
For which job will you apply? And will you be able to change the position?

Positioning in life is about being independent or dependent.
Will your next position in life be a surprise for you or will you think about it?

    Your Next Position in Life

I love it! I’m one of those people who is not afraid to be alone. I’m, also, one of those people who isn’t afraid to ask for prime seating when traveling alone.

My position? Ask and you shall receive.

    Great post Rita, thanks

Rita, I loved the comparison to a seat in a restaurant. I had never looked at it like this, and it makes perfect sense. Thank you for the insight.
